Common questions

What is the AIFC?

The Astana International Financial Centre is a special jurisdiction in Astana with its own company rules based on English law, its own registrar and the AIFC Court. Companies register there online through the Digital Resident portal.

How much is the AIFC registration fee?

$500 for a private company filed online, or $1,500 on paper, since 1 December 2025. Changes after registration cost $100 online.

What tax benefits do AIFC companies get?

Corporate income tax exemptions until 1 January 2066 apply to financial services and related ancillary services, and only with real presence in the AIFC. IT and trading companies get no CIT relief and pay 20% CIT and 16% VAT.

Private company or recognised company: which do I need?

A private company is a new company set up in the AIFC. A recognised company is a branch of an existing foreign company, and its registrar fee is also $500 online.

Can I register an AIFC company remotely?

Mostly, yes. The application is filed online and signed with an e-signature, or on paper with scans and a video of each participant holding their passport. The CEO needs an IIN, which a foreigner gets only in person or through eResidency.

What has to be done after registration?

Every year the company files an annual return, financial statements and an annual confirmation with the AIFC registrar; a late filing costs $100 plus 5% a day if unpaid after 30 days. In Kazakhstan it files tax returns like any other company.

Does an AIFC company give me a visa?

Not by itself. AIFC law allows visas of up to five years for employees and investors of AIFC participants, but that is a separate application, and we don't handle migration.
